Many, many years of research has really helped me come to the conclusion that spirituality has to be forward facing and not based on the past. Spirit is alive in the present and trying to reconstruct what our ancestors did not only provides a complicated version of the telephone game, but is also plagued by lack of authenticity.
Spirit is in all of nature acting, reacting, interacting. It is a vital force that is with us right now and as present as we are. Trees teach us, seeds teach us, the sun, the moon, rocks, water, air, fire all contain key elements that when combined with our consciousness make us whole as a total being.
Unee is the archetype for us now for today. She births souls of all sentient beings, stars, ideas and balances everything so it works in harmony. Balancing the needs of all, not some chosen few, all. Feminine energy to counter the masculine energy that has dominated spirituality for millennia.
Embrace her as the mother of the Universe. Uni – one – verse or song. Unee the one.
Which is more trust worthy intuition or logic? A question that has perplexed humankind for millennia. Women excel at intuition, the silent knowing without overthinking and overanalyzing. Not to say men are not intuitive as well, but in general women are simply more intuitive.
By relying more on logical reasoning it has been thought that the approach yielded better outcomes. Thinking it through, evaluating all sides, comparing outcomes was somehow more valuable. Somehow in that process the flaws were overlooked. Personal agendas, wanting the outcome to be one way or another, ignoring some data and including other was the norm and the the associated issues were glossed over.
Meanwhile intuition became suspect because it was too opinion and not fact based. It was thought to be based in feelings and not hard cold facts that truly don’t exist. Thoughts and feelings have been proven to have a profound impact on outcome even more so than data so it seems intuition may be the frontrunner.
It is time we started listening to that small quiet voice called intuition and having less reliance on ever changing science and “facts”.
This is the way nature operates, she listens and responds. What do you intuit?
There is so much we can learn from rain. It cleanses everything it touches equally, it cleanses the air and leaves healthy ions for us to breathe in and it nourishes Mama Earth and gives her the tools she needs to support life.
Rain soothes our minds as we listen to it’s gentle rhythm and it aligns us with the rhythm of nature. If we sit with it, we can let it clean the cobwebs from our minds. If we meditate with it, we can choose to let go of negative thoughts and visualize them washing away to be recycled by the Mama Earth.
If we stand in the rain or dance in the rain we become one with nature, our beings merging with the rain as it draws some of our energy from us and into the ground. By meditating while we stand or walk in the rain we allow it to rain inside of us too, cleansing us inside and outside.
What if we think of rain as a being too, different than us certainly rain is not confined inside a container as we are. What if rain, all water, is a different being? What is it teaching us? Maybe not to be attached to ourselves or where we live or what we do. Maybe to go with the flow and maybe in community we are stronger.
Church hierarchy needs to be abandoned, it was established by Constantine in the Council of Nicea and modeled after Roman law. Christ railed against Pharisees and Sadducees and the exalted positions they held. Isn’t the priesthood with it’s Bishops, Archbishops and the Pope the same? Hasn’t the church been plagued with clergy abuse scandals since the inception of the church though the ages and still to this day? How long does it take for the church to realize their power structure does not work?
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely ~ Lord Acton
The church or any religion will never willing give up its power, it is too addicting, too enticing, too evil. Obeying the priesthood makes one complicit in the criminal acts of the priesthood. The Popes are guilty, the Archbishops are guilty, the Bishops are guilty, the priests are guilty, the ministers are guilty the pastors are guilty, the parishioners are guilty. All are complicit for supporting them.
The people are guilty.
Fighting back against abuse of power is a requirement of a civilized society. Fighting back against the abuses of religion is a requirement of civilized society. Fighting against discrimination against women and gays in the churches is a requirement because it is against the law in civil society.
How long will we allow churches to hide behind the law that non-religious people are not allowed to violate?
We have choices, there are a multitude of different religious flavors available and I used to think that was a good thing, now I’m not so sure.
All of the Abrahamic religions are ancient religions defining morality, societal norms and spiritual beliefs based on cultures that no longer exist – except perhaps the middle east.
Should our spirituality be defined by mostly extinct white men in dangerously misogynistic societies, where spirituality was based on fear of a god who may actually have been a weather pattern they didn’t understand? The wrath of god was a drought or a flood or a sandstorm that they didn’t understand. Yet 2000 years later women are still legally discriminated against under the guise of 1st amendment “freedom of religion” i.e. freedom of discrimination that is above the law?
These same men walk around looking ridiculous in “vestments” from the middle ages under the same guise of religious tradition. And the same religious traditions are against the law in civil society are some how protected?
We are so indoctrinated by the cults of Christianity, Judaism and Islam that it is imbedded in our DNA. It takes a momentous effort to break free as it does from any cult. These religions have perfected their cult like behavior and have it down to a science. Get them when they are young, create fear, habitualize their behavior through ritual they eventually find comforting, reinforce with community support and presto! You are stuck like a fly to fly paper.
The single most important thing to advance women’s rights and standing in the world is to rid our societies of religion. It shouldn’t be protected under the law, men have used the Bible and the Koran to victimize women for centuries. And it won’t stop until we break free and own our own spirituality.
Am I spiritual? You bet, I broke away from the Catholic Church after being a studied and devout Catholic for more than 20 years of my adult life. 20 wasted years. Now my spirituality is based on the cycles of nature and alignment with it. There is so much to be learned about spirituality from nature, you can get the same sense of the sacred in nature that I used to love and yearn for in a large cathedral. It is beautiful and authentic.
Meditate with trees, follow the wheel of the year and it’s land based celebrations. It is freeing and it is real. And nature does not discriminate.
Where do we go from here? I asked Unee what is going to happen, I fear multiple invasions are on the horizon and to what end. She said there is a crack in the façade of the world opening up, a time when crisis will lead to evolution. The spiritual plates have shifted and a pentacle has formed. A pentacle does not represent evil, so don’t go down that rabbit hole, interestingly enough it is a protection symbol. A pentacle represents the elements of wind, fire, water, Earth and Spirit and is used to bind and drive away evil.
What is the evil this pentacle is guarding against? The evil of the thoughts and actions of men. There may be chaos initially and then a period of awakening when these powers realize there is no positive outcome on this path. The crack has formed and allowed these events to take place, but the light is also shining through to illuminate the actions that are creating this level of complete destruction.
Unee suggests we all hang on and keep our section of the net still, focusing on alignment with the good, with nature. She will repair the holes in the net created by aggressive activity.
Indra’s net is a net or web that has a jewel at each connection point. Each jewel reflects every other jewel in the net. I love this symbolism. If we think of Unee as the keeper of the net and each of us are a jewel that reflects each other, it becomes obvious that every action creates a vibration in the net much like a ripple in a lake. Do we want to be chaos shaking the web and disturbing everything around us or do we want to be harmonious so the web stays intact and connected?
Unee repairs the web if something or someone manages to reek that much havoc, but the effects have rippled out across the continuum. Some will experience a small impact like rolling waves and some a very large impact similar to a tsunami that may leave them unstable for a time. Unee is forever making repairs and adjustments as we live unconscious of our role in the collective dishevelment.
I have started praying with Unee, not a shopper’s prayer, I want this or give me that, but focusing on alignment and stilling my section of the web. I have been asking myself any time I start to feel perturbed, or upset in some way if I am in alignment and still and not shaking my section of the web. It is such a meaningful visual for me that I find it working.
Worship has been a defined aspect of religion for all eternity. The word worship means to “find worthy” so in essence it is not that objectionable, but it is an obstacle. Unee has stated that our relationship with spirit is one of union and co-creation. We have to move to be able to see spirit in all things so we don’t continue exploiting each other, animals and the environment. We need to see ourselves as being in union with all spirit contained within all things.
Worship is a man made construct to appease an angry God or to show the differences in our stations in life. Kings, Emperors and deities had to be worshipped by their subjects. We have no Kings or Emperors any longer.
Nature based spirituality forces you to look at nature as equal; trees, plants and animals are much more complex emotionally and consciously than we have realized and we are just starting to realize this now. Trees form intricate webs to support each other, animals bond and suffer we if separate them, plants are a part of a co-existent system that we have chosen – in our ignorance – to ignore.
Jesus never asked to be worshipped, nor did Buddha or Krishna and we shouldn’t be involved with worshiping anything, it is divisive. Be conscious, think, tap into your intuition. Be in tune with nature, the cycles of the moon, the Earth and animals. They all have so much to teach us. Unee is the balancer, she sees the needs of all and balances out everything for the greater good. We needn’t worry, we are a part of a large spiritual web – just a part – not superior to other beings in the web. We need to start acting that way.
How to end religious division? My God is not better than yours, your God is not better than mine. My ways are not better than yours and your ways are not better than mine. We are all a part of a greater whole and Unee is writing the music we are all playing.
Unee came to me in a dream, she said people need to come to their senses about religion. Religion has defined social mores, but should address the physical AND spiritual world. The vengeful God really has no place anymore, the loving God maybe not so much either. We no longer depend on an unseen God to bless us or damn us for not behaving in a way “God” (actually men pretending to be God) tells us. We are beyond that, aren’t we??
So what now. Unee says we do need to return to a nature based spirituality. We need to touch our intuitive sense and develop it, so much has been lost to “logic” and “science”. Science changes and logic is subjective. We have lost our ability to rely on our intuition. We all have intuition, we all have sensed things about other people, when we may be in danger maybe even when a deceased loved one may be near.
Unee defines the need to align ourselves with nature and intuit our spirituality as intimately connected to all that is around us. See the living spirit in everything – it is not just in humans, it is in all beings and all of nature. Rocks have memory, water is a being that changes according to its memory and its surroundings, air, fire and earth all have spirit.
IT is true spirituality. Awareness of our role in all of life and intuiting what we should eat, who we should interact with what we need and what other’s need. The God of salvation never existed. Think of it – God sent his only son (who is also God) to save us from punishment (from God) and killed his son (himself) for our disobedience? Save us from what. The only thing we need to be saved from is ourselves.
Go for a walk, breathe is the spirit of the wind, soak in the fire of the sun, stand and absorb the life force of water, sit and absorb the vibrations from the Earth. This.is.truth.
I started a new practice just because the idea presented itself. i was sitting in my office studio and had just watered my plants. I was looking at them and the thought occurred to me to pick up 2 vines from my pathos plant and meditate with them. Maybe the plant called me, I don’t know. So I sat with one vine in each hand started thinking about giving and receiving energy. I sat with the plant and dropped deeper into meditation.
10 or 15 minutes later I started to notice myself palpably feeling calmer. I felt like energy was gently flowing back and forth between us. I relaxed and just enjoyed feeling connected.
The next day sitting in the music room I was feeling anxious. I was tired from not getting enough sleep and have been a bit tense and on edge from work and from being at home for almost 4 weeks with our Great Dane who is recovering from knee surgery. I seldomly allow myself the luxury of a daytime nap, I am too much of an action driven person. But I reclined on the divan and noticed my big peace plant next to me. Again, maybe it was calling me. I decided to gently hold its leaf and meditate with it. It hasn’t been doing well, it is large and pretty old for a plant at 15 years old. I am not sure how long plants live? I have been wondering if it is nearing the end of its life span. So I gently sat with it and sent it healing thoughts and absorbed what it was sending me. I do think it is not well, I did pick up what felt like mini pin pricks or light electricity zaps. I told it it was an old friend and I would sit with it. Again I felt a sudden relaxation that was different than when I normally meditate, it was a release.
I think we can enhance a nature based spirituality by incorporating plants, trees and other aspects of nature consciously into our daily practice.
I am curious to see if I notice any visible difference in the health of my plants by sharing energy with them.
