Threshold 7: The Burning Ground

There comes a time when even longing becomes too heavy to carry.

It scorches the hands. It wakes you at night.

It will not let you rest in your old life.

This is the burning ground.

It is not punishment.

It is purification.

The soul does not walk forward by inspiration alone—sometimes it is fire that moves us.

This is where the illusions fall away.

Where spiritual sentiment is no longer enough.

Where belief becomes a choice, and choice becomes a vow.

You cannot go back now.

The path behind you has collapsed into memory.

Even if you tried, the old pleasures would taste like dust.

The old distractions would flicker and fade.

You have seen something. Or rather—Someone has seen you.

There is no safety here, no clarity, only the knowing that to stay would be a kind of dying.

And so you step.

Not because you’re ready. Not because you’re brave.

But because the fire is real, and the fire is holy, and something in you has begun to burn with it.

This is the final threshold.

From here, the Narrow Path begins.

Prayer at the Seventh Threshold

O God who called me at the edge of myself,

who spoke in the quiet and led me through storms,

I have come through the dark wood.

I have wandered, resisted, wept, and burned.

And still—I am here.

Let this final fire consume all that cannot follow.

Let it refine what is eternal in me.

What pride remains, burn it away.

What fear clings to my back, let it fall to ash.

I do not ask for clarity. I do not ask for comfort.

Only this:

That You go with me on this Narrow Path.

I offer You my heart—not cleaned, not perfect, but open.

I offer You my will—not strong, not certain, but willing.

Let my feet remember the way when my eyes forget the light.

Let my soul rest in Your gaze when the world feels like exile.

And let me never forget that it is Love who walks beside me,

Love who waits before me, and Love who lights the path beneath my feet.

Amen.
